Can you tell me if the Aerosol would stick to Carbon Fiber Vinyl.
It is a vinyl film from 3-M |
Webmaster, posted on Monday October 11th, 2010 9:36 AM
It should work, but we have not tried it. It works on most surfaces. |

I have just painted the interior of my PC case gloss red using regular alkyl spray paint.
What would be the results if I were to apply a coating of UV red over that red surface or any other color for that matter. What would I expect to see if the UV red was applied over a black power coat?
OR just to say, what does the UV paint look like when it is applied over a dark color once generated by a black light?
Does the paint stick to all surfaces, or just plastic and other latex type surfaces?
|
Webmaster, posted on Thursday September 2nd, 2010 12:01 PM
Thank you for your questions,
Our paint can be applied to virtually any surface, and as far as the effect it will be basicly the same regardless of the color of the surface you apply it to, it will appear invisble in normal light and flouresce birghtly when expossed to black light, I hope this helps answer your questions |

Does the brush on formula dry to a gloss, semi-gloss, or matte finish? Trying to determine what finish I need for base coat of paint... |
Webmaster, posted on Wednesday September 1st, 2010 1:44 PM
Our Brush-on formula will leave a slight shine when dry, similar to a semi-gloss finish. The shine will be visible when viewed from an angle under normal lighting. |

My band just bought a black light strobe, we were just wondering if house lights in bars and clubs will effect the brightness of the paint on stage or if it only works with a very dark stage. |
Webmaster, posted on Monday August 30th, 2010 11:18 AM
Black lights can be easily overpowered by incancescent lights and stage lights. The more black light you have the better. Black lights obviously work best in very dark environments but this is not always possible. Err on the side of caution and have extra black lights available.
The brightness of the black lights directly effects how bright our paints fluoresce. The more black light you have, the brighter our paints. Thank you. |

No, our paint requires a blacklight to flouresce,
Good question though
Thanks |

Hi, I live in New Jersey and want to paint a mural in Clearneon similar to the beach in your gallery, except I have no artistic ability. Do you know of anyone in the tri-state area who can do this? |
Webmaster, posted on Tuesday August 3rd, 2010 1:45 PM
Hello, we are not familiar with any artists in that area. But any artist that is skilled with an airbrush can use our paint. It behaves the same as other paints when airbrushed. As long as the painting is done while under black light any muralist can achieve great results. Thank you. |

Can I mix brush-on paint with regular white paint and it still glow under UV? |
Webmaster, posted on Tuesday July 13th, 2010 11:17 AM
We do not recommend this at all. The pigment will be overwhelmed by the white paint and this will negate the fluorescent qualities. Thank you. |

Will your paint come off if left submerged in water? |
Webmaster, posted on Wednesday July 7th, 2010 12:47 PM
The Aerosol formula will dissolve quickly if in contact with water or liquids. The Brush-on formula is a polyurethane clearcoat and will hold up when in contact with liquids. However, our paints were not designed to be in contact with water, so results cannot be guaranteed. Thank you for your question. |

Webmaster, posted on Thursday July 1st, 2010 3:24 PM
Yes it will work on stucco. The paint will be permanent unless it is exposed to direct sunlight outdoors, that will fade the pigment. If used indoors you will not have problems. Thank you. |

When I get my room cleaned out I was going to paint my room pink and black.Whould the brush on paints be alright for this? Can I mix colors say red and white to make pink or blue and red to make purple?Would you sugest a overcout at all.And what kind of paint do you think i should use for the pink and black befor i use the uv paint? |
Webmaster, posted on Monday May 17th, 2010 11:32 AM
YES our Brush-on paints can be mixed to create custom colors. Red and White will make Pink and Blue and Red will make Purple.
We do not recommend using ANY clearcoats over our paints. They are a clearcoat themself and should be the FINAL coat applied.
Our paints can be applied to virtually any surface or paint; traditional indoor latex paint is fine for your walls.
Thank you! |

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW YOUR SPRAY PAINT WORKS ON A BRICK WALL, AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? |
Webmaster, posted on Thursday May 13th, 2010 11:00 AM
If applied to a brick wall, the brick needs to be a sealed surface otherwise seeping-in could occur. If indoors it will be permanent, if used outdoors direct sunlight will fade our pigments over time. |

I would like to use the paints on the walls of my room but the walls are light blue right now. Will the paint still look good on light blue walls? |
Webmaster, posted on Tuesday May 11th, 2010 9:37 AM
Light blue walls might reflect some of the black light and thus appear brighter. Our paints will still look great, just choose colors other than Blue, White or Purple as they might appear too similar a color as the walls.
If you go with some of the brighter colors, Red, Orange, Green, Yellow and Pink, it will look great. Thanks! |

Im currently painting my vehicles interior, and im installing BlackLights on the interior aswell.
Im painting the pieces, then putting on the paint.
Will this work?
Will it be visible during the day?
Will i be able to use "paint on paint"?
Does it still light up after using a BlackLight? |
Webmaster, posted on Wednesday March 10th, 2010 11:02 AM
Our paints are a clear coat and should be applied as such. Meaning, our paints should be the final layer applied over the other color.
Illumination of our paints during the day is entirely possible depending on the amount of ambient light in the vehicle. Blacklights work best in a very dark environment.
Hope this answers your questions, thank you.

Does the clearneon paint show up with LED lights? Our band added black lighting to our stage show but the black light paint also shows up with LED lights not as bright as the black lights but it is visable. |
Webmaster, posted on Wednesday March 10th, 2010 10:57 AM
It depends entirely on what wavelength your LEDs are operating on. Our paint will fluoresce (show color) if exposed to UV rays from 340-380nm. So if your new LEDs operate within this range or very close to it, some illumination will occur. |

hey i am going to be moving soon and before i do i am repainting the walls while the place is empty. i want to paint in a brighter color, thinking about a baby blue or something of that sort. i am thinking about buying the 8 pack of aerosol cans. (the one with each color besides black) but i am just wanting to double check that it is invisable and that the background color will not affect it. some sites say it is invisible on white walls, but this is a different company and different product. anyways i am just wanting to know it will work before hand. thanks! |
Webmaster, posted on Friday February 26th, 2010 11:36 AM
Our paints are invisible and colorless UNTIL exposed to UV black light. Our paints will not be visible in normal lighting conditions.
Background color does not matter, our paints act as a clear coat and will fluoresce as designed on any color base coat. Thank you. |

Is brush on 100% invisible in the normal light?

Webmaster, posted on Wednesday January 20th, 2010 2:35 PM
Brush-on is a "polyurethane paint." It works great when used for air-brushing, it is mixed with normal tap water, test for desired viscosity. It will show NO COLOR in normal lighting conditions but will leave a slight clear shine where applied. Fluoresces (shows color) only while under UV blacklight. |

I have a party bus company and I want to use your brush on paint to add uniqueness to the interior of the bus for our clients...in your opinion, how many cans of paint should it take to cover the floor of a 40 ft long bus by 8ft wide? Also, im new to blacklights in general, how many will i need to make your paint really stand out? |
Webmaster, posted on Tuesday November 17th, 2009 1:07 PM
If applied in a thin, even coat, you can expect around 12 square feet per jar. We recommend using only 1 layer, multiple layers on top of one another can start to yellow.
As far as blacklights go, you can never have too many. The more UV light you have, the brighter the paint will fluoresce. I would recommend 48" fluorescent tube style blacklights mounted on the ceiling. Thank you. |

That depends on the type of glass. Many types of glass used in homes and offices contain UV blockers to protect what is behind them, whether it is a picture or furniture. If it is Plexiglass you should not have a problem, thank you. |

The black background will not reduce the vibrance of the paint. For this application we recommend the Aerosol Matte finish. The paint will only be visible when the UV lights are on. Thank you. |

We do not recommend using any clear coats or laquers over ClearNeon. Many of these contain UV blockers or inhibitors and would therefore diminish or negate the fluorescent quality of our paint. Use ClearNeon alone as a clear coat. Thank you. |

What type of bulb are you using? If it is a painted screw-in bulb, it will not work as that is not a UV blacklight. Fluroescent UV blacklights are required for our product to work ar optimal levels. |

Can the clearneon aerosol be sprayed on a clear lucite surface and remain entirely transparent?
thanks. |
Webmaster, posted on Monday December 1st, 2008 1:13 PM
If the lucite surface is an acrylic glass it will show a slight haze where applied. Most lucite actually filters and thus blocks UV light, which would render our product useless. The only glass we apply our product to to have the full effect is quartz glass, which does not filter out UV rays. |

ClearNeon will fade if in direct sunlight. A clear coat will not protect fading. Also if a clearcoat is used, which is not always necessary, make sure there are no UV blockers. If so, you will not be able to see your work. Thank you for your question.

Thanks!! |
Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 12:31 PM
It may not fluoresce brighter than the white wall; however, it will fluoresce intensly with whatever color is applied to the white wall. Two 48 inch blacklights should be plenty, but will really help with intense presentation of ClearNeon. The more blacklight the more intense the paint. Thank you for your interest in ClearNeon!

Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 12:34 PM
Well, the more blacklight you have the more intense ClearNeon will fluoresce. Two 48 inch lights should be plenty for a small bedroom, but this is all depending on placement of the lights, and preference of how you want your work to look. It also depends on the application, entire room or just one wall. Usually two 48 inch lights emit enough light for ClearNeon to fluoresce with high intensity. Thank you for your interest in ClearNeon.

Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 12:35 PM
ClearNeon Brush-on tends to have a glossy finish, and should work on any background color. ClearNeon Brush-on is a water-base polyurethane, so a top coat is not necessary. If you want a top coat, I would get one with no oil, and NO UV blockers. If so, you will not be able to see your work. Thank you for your questions.

I do not think we will be attending Burningman this year. It should not dry out the canvas or harm the material. ClearNeon is an invisible fluorescent Clear Coat and should not harm, crack, or peel away. ClearNeon Brush-on is very durable, and is permanent. Hi everyone! First time user here. I am a VERY big fan of LOST. If you watch the show then yes you know what I am about to say! I am creating a replica of the blast door map out of 9 pieces of canvas. http://images.lostpedia.com/images/3/3c/Fullblastdoor.jpg-Link to image. It uses 3 colors, blue, yellow and pink. I will post my final result when done, but first some questions.
-Does the clear neon fade over time? if so how long? I am keeping it in a room with only one small window so little to no direct sunlight will be a factor.
-Does the Pearlescence/Cosmic Glow color come out close enough to a pinkish red for the result I am looking for? (See image in link above)
-How well do the colors go on with a brush, I am using the brush on paints and there is text to be written.
-How much comes in the brush on?
-How well does it work on canvas? Alternatively, I will first paint a rustic steel color with sponges in acrylic paint before putting on the clear neon, how well will it adhere?
-Finally does diluting the clear neon in water help me achieve a dimer glow? The map I am trying to re-create has much dimer colors of yellow, blue and pink in the background which will be the first layer I do.
Thanks for your help! |
Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 11:39 AM
ClearNeon can fade if in direct sunlight. It should, I recommend trying it in an inconspicous area first. It depends on the surface; however, application is very easy and versatile. The brush-on can also be diluted with water for desired viscosity. Be sure to read the label for application instructions. The brush-on comes in 4 ounce jars and works great on canvas. ClearNeon adheres to almost any surface. Again try in an inconspicous area first for desired application. No, dilution of ClearNeon will not change the intensity of how it fluoresces. Great questions, thank you for your interest.

ClearNeon does wash out, however it does depend on the type of fabric used, as well as how much ClearNeon was used. More than likely, re-application will be necessary for intense visibility.

I was interested in getting the white spray ClearNeon, and using it on a somewhat glossy white surface with the intent to make it glow under blacklight. Would the ClearNeon make the surface non-glossy? Could I spray the surface afterward with spray gloss to regain a gloss finish? Or, best yet do you have or plan to make a glossy white ClearNeon spray? Thanks! |
Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 11:24 AM
ClearNeon should not effect the surface. I would try testing in an inconspicuous area first. Yes, but it is not always necessary. If you do, make sure it does not have UV Blockers. If it does you will not be able to see your work. White Gloss Aerosol is on backorder; however, we do have other colors. Check out the store for product availability. |

Will clear neon work on basement concrete walls well. And does the paint need very high amounts of UV light to show up well? |
Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 11:18 AM
ClearNeon works great on concrete. I would recommend the ClearNeon Aerosol formula. Not necessarily; however, the more lights you have the more intense the paint will fluoresce. |

How long will this last outdoors?
I HAVE A WATERFALL AND A FAKE VOLCANO. |
Webmaster, posted on Thursday April 10th, 2008 12:38 PM
The paint is not meant for outdoor use. Direct sunlight fades the paint very quickly. The red fades the quickest. You can try it but it will not last. |

If you are interested I suggest that you put together a large order with friends, because the shipping price is about the same for large orders as small orders. What long can these products realistically be expected to last say if used in an artwork kept out of sunlight? Are they based on dyes or pigments? apparently pigments are more stable. |
Webmaster, posted on Tuesday March 8th, 2005 9:44 PM
As long as you keep these colors out of the sunlight, they will last for years. |

Webmaster, posted on Tuesday May 13th, 2008 11:32 AM
ClearNeon will work fine on white walls. ClearNeon, when used with the right black light, will luminate brighter than the white walls. |

Webmaster, posted on Thursday October 30th, 2008 12:42 PM
It should work, but I have never seen it done before. ClearNeon is considered Non-Toxic and I do not see any problem especially if it is painted on the outside of the aquarium. |

I LOVE the lightning effect on page 3 of your gallery of photos. How was this effect accomplished? Is the lightning bolt made with white? or stone white? is there some sort of blue background behind the bolts, or was some sort of UV blocker used around the bolts to make it stand out? (also, was the desk painted with yellow?) Thanks so much, and it looks great! |
Webmaster, posted on Tuesday May 13th, 2008 11:25 AM
The lightening bolt is white. There is some blue used in the clouds along with the white. There is yellow and green on the desk and computer. This added a nice glow to the room. |
